Rev. Dr. Bonnie J. Ortiz D.Min

My Story

Rev. Dr. Bonnie Jean Ortiz, a native of Camden, NJ with Puerto Rican roots, has dedicated her life to education and serving her community.  She received multiple degrees, including a Doctor of Ministry, and pursued further studies in interior design, adult education, and library and information science.  Rev. Ortiz currently serves as the pastor of Bethel UCC, a bilingual congregation in Philadelphia.  She previously held positions as an associate pastor, administrative director of a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, and program director for the Latino churches.  She played a crucial role in launching the Institute of Knowledge and Resources for Hispanic Ministries.  Before becoming a full-time pastor, Rev. Ortiz served as the administrative director for the Doctor of Ministry program at Eastern University, contributing to the redesign of the program's renewal track.  She has received numerous awards for her contributions to the community, and she is a proud mother to three children and proud grandmother to four grandchildren. Rev. Ortiz finds joy in reading, decorating, traveling with her family, visiting museums and watching documentaries.  Her true passion lies in serving Christ, spreading the Gospel, and witnessing transformation in people's lives.
